Augustus M. "Gus" Parker Better known to all his friends as "Gus," Augustus M. Parker has been a member of the Exchange
Club of Macon, Georgia, since March 1, 1965. This Exchangite leads by example and is the epitome of an outstanding volunteer and
community leader.
During his years of service, Gus has served on all the major committees, as well as the board of directors, for his home club. Under
his leadership as president, his club was recognized as the Outstanding Large Club for the
Georgia District. Gus was also on the
board of directors for the Georgia State Fair, which is owned and
operated by the Macon Exchange Club as its major fundraiser.
Gus' dedication to Exchange is evident through his efforts to build new clubs thoughout the Georgia District. He has worked on
11 new club building projects over the years, nine of which occurred within the last eight years. His most recent club building
project was the Exchange Club of Wilkinson County, which chartered on May 10, 2007. Gus is also a member of Exchange Club of
Houston County, which he organized in November 2000.
All this hard work has not gone unrecognized. Gus received the Distinguished Club President Award and the Star District award
from National. The Georgia District awarded him its Exchangite of the Year Award in 2006. Gus is also the only volunteer
field representative (VFR) to earn the national VFR of the Year award twice (2001 and 2006).
Outside of Exchange, Gus belongs to various organizations, including the Bibb Retired Teachers Association, Georgia Association
of Educators, and the Middle Georgia and American Rose Society. He is also active in his church, where he sings in the Chancel
Choir.
Gus Parker's dedication to Exchange and his commitment to making a difference are the hallmarks of not only an outstanding
Exchangite, but also an outstanding member of his community.

proven leader in the Exchange Club. A retired educator and school
administrator, Gus remains very active in the Exchange Club having served in
various offices within his home club, at the Georgia District and National
levels. In his 42 years with the Macon club, he chaired numerous committees and
was instrumental in building two local Excel clubs and five new Exchange clubs
in Macon and communities across Georgia. He was installed as National
